HI

I need input on the following

i have 2 switches setup as hsrp
both switchs handle the layer 3 routing and are configured the same

the fault i have is the following

1. if i setup switch A as the default gateway dscp can be seen
2. if i setup switch B as the default gateway dscp is missing
3. if i setup the hsrp ip address as default dscp is missing

ive been told CEF could fix this fault but can not find anything to back this up

also if i add ip cef to the config would this stop anything working

thanks for any help you can supply

here is a copy of part of the config

interface Vlan20
description voice vlan
ip address 10.2.3.5 255.255.0.0
no ip redirects
no ip unreachables
no ip proxy-arp
standby ip 10.2.3.3
standby priority 105
standby preempt

switch a=10.2.3.4
switch b=10.2.3.5
standby = 10.2.3.3

It shouldn't break anything, CEF is the default fast switching mechanism in almost all new cisco switches and anything running like 12.0 IOS and above should have it on by default .

You need to provide us with more information. What switches are they? Where are you monitoring DSCP? Who is the HSRP Active router (I assume B).
