We have an old Compaq EMA12000 SAN that has been set up for disk backups. Since it has been reset up the throughput we get is only about 20 - 30 MB/s which seems a bit slow, compared to when it was in production. One lun is also used to capture SQL dump files, when these are being captured the servers is pretty much inoperable.
2 x HSG80 controllers.
The EMA has 84 26.4 GB disks (majority scsi3), six raid 5 sets of 12 disks and one raid 5 set of 6 disks.
The backup server is a Proliant DL380 G2, with two P3 1266 processors and two LP8000 HBA's. All 7 luns are attached to the backup server as well as 2 internal raid sets.
Does anyone know what sort of throughput we should bet getting with this configuration?
