We have recently upgraded a bunch of Pc's from NT to Win2k. The old NT machines ran Soltice 3.2 to access a HPUX machine to map drives to its volumes. Now Win2k does not seem to work with Solstice...
Is there any easy way to map a drive to the hpux machine for a couple of weeks, as data on that drive is getting converted across to a nice new windows server.

I prefer not to have to setup Samba or things like that.. Just something very simple... If there is a way..!! :)

Thanks

There probably is a way, but HP has made Samba relatively easy.

You should have software named cifs on your installation disks. That is HP's repackaging of Samba. Install that and read the docs. The one named DIAGNOSIS.txt is really pretty good. It walks you through testing the connection and suggests what might go wrong. I was having a hard time configuring Samba on my AIX and Sun systems until I read that HP doc.

To be more precise:

CIFS/9000 Server allows HP-UX filesystems to be exported so Windows systems can see them. This is a repackaging of the familiar Samba software suite.

CIFS/9000 Client allows Windows shares to be mounted as NFS-like filesystems on HP-UX systems.

CIFS/9000 is only available for systems running HP-UX 11.x.
