I am looking for information regarding how to force a remote DLT8000 (internal to a jukebox) into dlt7000 compressed mode.
People in my remote location have not access to that jukebox and there have no access to any "density override" button.
I a looking for a SOFTWARE solution to that issue.
At the OS level, creating a new special file with DLT7000 density properties works fine with standard "tar" backups.
That is to say, I can use DLT8000 to created tar files and restores them using a DLT7000.
NetWorker backups volumes done the same way with the same DLT8000 can not be read using a DLT7000.
volume id is recognised but tape label not readable.
mmrecov complains about block size issue...
This leads to the conclusion that NetWorker has its own tape configuration files.
I am using NetWorker V602 and HPUX 11 64 bits and could not locate any "st.conf" on my system.
Any hits appreciated.
Thank you.
