HPLJ4100 - 30.01.18 ?.?.? SCAN FAILURE

Following messages appears very often on many HP LJ4100mfp.
After a reboot the scanner works fine during few hours and then again the same problem:

30.01.18 100373 ?.?.? SCAN FAILURE
30.00.01 100373 CHECK CABLES AND CYCLE POWER
30.01.18 100356 ?.?.? SCAN FAILURE


How would you perform a troubleshooting of this issue (PCB, Scan unit, high-speed connection cable, formatter?)

Sounds like you may have an issue with the scanner running along the track. I would start with a good cleaning of the track that the scanner head runs along.
