I have set up a HPLaserJet 4100 to print from our application initially with the following script:
lp "name" -oc -ovsi7.25
This seems to work for all the other HP laserjets but for this one the page breaks are not right. I have then tried modifying to -ovsi6.50 etc, but thie first page might be okay, the second page has the bottom of the first page on the top, the third page is even worse. Any suggestions or solution would be much appreciated.

My guess is that there is something set differently on the
control panel of the printer in question. Is your application supplying page breaks and the printer its own,
or are you expecting a page break after XX lines?

The formlength is probably what is at issue and it's maybe
not being set by the application/interface script and is relying on default settings at the control panel.

The application is supplying the page breaks. So do you have a suggestion to add to the script for the formlenght?
Thanks

-tl (text length) if you are using the HPLaserJet script.

What is probably happening to you...

When the printer is initialized, your line spacing value is used to extablish the top margin and then the bottom margin based on the text length. Subsequently any linefeed that puts the cursor over the bottom margin will cause a formfeed.

So as long a the textlength is greater than your MAX, the printer should never FF by itself. What is the maximum number of lines coming from your app?

The maximum number of lines from the appl is 66.

So try -otl66 and see if that takes care of it.

Thank you, that works!
