I maintain software on legacy hp9000 400 series workstations running hp-ux version 9. The SCSI DAT drives are constantly failing. We can find 3rd party sources to replace the drives, but more often than not those last one or two uses then fizzle out again. It would be really nice if we could replace with CDRW. The version of hp-ux is very old and no longer supported by HP. The version of hp-ux 10 and up will not work on our hardware platform. What kind of an effort would this be? Would we have to write the drivers? Any insight would be appreciated.
