HP4700DN - prints differently between users on same computer

Basically, created a new domain user on a computer and logged in as the new user.
Printouts show up differently as compared to the old user and printouts on a similar Windows 7 computer with same printer.

See attached PDFs. The one with the RED text on grey background is correct. I can't find any printer options that are set differently between computers. Any ideas? Already removed reinstalled printer drivers.

What about the program they are using to generate the service orders... Any printer settings there? Can you print in color as the new user from other applications?

Printing color from other applications seems normal - like a printer test page, a limited test to be sure.

That is a program called Service Shop by Genesis Four and I would rather do anything than try to get support from them. So, I wanted to start on the Windows side of things if it can be fixed by a printer/windows settings.

If not, I'll move onto the application side of things.

compare the printer settings for the attached printer for both users. Make sure you are using the same driver and have the exact same settings

If the problem happens across two different users on the SAME computer, I don't really need to check driver version do I? I mean, all users on the same computer get the same driver version - or am I wrong?

Only locally connected printers are common. Otherwise all users have their own printer definitions.

The first thing I would check is to see if both computers are using the same printer driver (name and version). Next, I'd see if there is anything set up differently on the printer options and in the program. Also, you might check to see if the computers are up to date for the operating system.

No, but you DO have to check what the default properties for the printer are set as for each user, plus what font family and size each user profile may have set as their default.

Ok, so we DID check the printer properties between a computer that is printing normally and a user on the other computer that is NOT printing normally. We did this because it's easier to check options between computers rather than between different users on the same computer (have to login and out). But no real difference can be found in the printer options.

So, it appears that I'll need to contact the software supplier to see if there is some trick setting.

If you use systeminfo.exe in an elevated command prompt and redirect the output to a text file, you can have a 'hard copy' of the profile details to compare without having to log in and out of the profile.

Well - the owner of the car repair shop just told me that it was "a setting in the software" and the other guys "don't know what they're doing" in terms of fixing the print settings!!! So, that's about 45 minutes of my time wasted at the shop and 15 minutes posting this thread at home that are non-billable. I LOVE giving my time away when I think something is my fault. After all, I was the last person that touched the computer.

Thanks for the SystemInfo comment - it never crossed my mind, but I will store it for later use.

You gotta love those "oh yeah.." moments

"But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." 1 Corinthians 15:57

This was an "oh yeah, I just shafted myself" moment - double bad!!! I'll live.

@goombawaho
I don't find any user with name of "SystemInfo" as you mentioned in your 2nd last reply "Thanks for the SystemInfo comment - it never crossed my mind, but I will store it for later use." where it is?

It's not a 'user', it is a M$ Windows diagnostic tool.

It may have something to do with differences between user rights? I have seen users that were supposed to have admin rights, but were actually missing some of them!
