Hi - hope someone can help.

I have a 4500 - that intermittantly will come up with a "LOAD A4" message in tray 2, even when it has A4 in this tray already.

All you need do to get the printer running is press the green button on the printer, and it will start printing.
It also does this on the 'print config continuous' option on the control panel, so I cannot see it being a driver issue.

I am wondering which is most likely at fault, paper out sensor, size sensor or formatter pcb? At the moment I think the paper tray and sensors are OK, as I don't need to refit them or anything to clear the error, just press the Go button.

Thanks
Gary

Check if the paper size is set up for Letter anywhere in the driver, application or on the printer. Eventually set the printer to override A4/letter=Yes or No in the controlpanel => Paperhandling menu of the printer.

I'll check the settings - I don't think its a driver issue though, as I get this error running test pages off through the printer menu.

If you get the message when running testpages directly off the printer check the slides in the tray and try to move them back and forth to ensure proper mechanical function. It might be the switch the detects the slide position that fails.
