I have just replaced a 4200dtn with a 4250dtn printer on our network. We had bought the 1500-sheet tray and the stacker/stapler and everything was working fine with the 4200dtn. After a little research, I concluded that both of those items would work with the 4250dtn.

We have not been able to print anything without the error "Too many trays installed - turn power off and uninstall tray." HP's website says it can have up to 5 trays!

The driver that is installed on our Windows 2000 server shows 4 trays installed, but if I look at the printer through the web browser, it shows only 3.

If I take that tray out, it works, if I use the 1500-sheet tray and take out the 500-sheet tray, it works...it is only if I have a total of 4 trays that it has a problem.

Any ideas? Has anyone seen this before...I can't find a thing about it on HP's website.

It's possible that HP would like you to purchase a firmware option to activate the multiple tray feature.

I found out that the 1500-sheet tray I was using was a Q2444a...I needed to buy a Q2444B. The trays are slightly different!!!
