HP4200tn tray 1 custom paper doesn't print properly

I am unable to get paper (8.5 x 5.5) inserted in tray 1 to print properly. When I use the paper stays to hold the paper in the center of the tray like designed, the top portion of my document is omitted. The only way I’m able to achieve the correct results is to open the stays to the fullest and place the paper to the left as if it were a full size sheet. I’ve tried adjusting the printer configuration on the machine and I’ve tried changing the printing preferences in control panel, all to no avail. Any help will be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance! lilbrother
