HP3600DN PPD for Macintosh

We have an issue with this printer model and Macintosh OS X.2 thru X.5.
For the print drivers, PPD's (Printer Postscipt Description) do not show, just generics are shown when setting it up. The generics don't give you the option of printer settings.

Any Suggestions?

Doesn't HP have drivers for this? I've seen a lot of OSX support on HP's site....

The LJ3600 printer is a 'host-based' device.

As such, it does NOT understand any of the traditional Page Description Languages (PDLs), like PCL5, PCL6 and PostScript; so a PostScript Printer Description file would be rather meaningless.

Host-based devices don't even properly understand plain ASCII (although some of them may appear to do so until their (small) buffer is full).

They rely on a special driver producing a (proprietary) 'JetReady' print stream, which just contains a series of encapsulated, compressed, raster page images.
