I have installed two new black cartridge but after a dozen pages get red flashing light and error message B INK OUT.What is wrong?

Does the 2500 have seperate ink cartridges and print-heads? If so, you may require a new print-head, which should be available from your cartridge supplier.

I had a similar problem with a HPDJ2000C and a new print-head solved the fault.

Check it out. DEC

Yes. The 2500 does have separate print heads but according to the handbook if one stops working I should get a message on the LED screen telling me specifically that a printhead is not working. However you could be right but as an impoverished 78 year old I don't want to waste my money without good reason. HP spares and repairs are vey expensive in the UK.
Thanks
TP

I'm afraid that sometimes the printer will not always single out the printhead if it has a problem with it; it may only notice that it cannot draw ink and therefore gives the INK OUT error. Replacing the print head, as was stated eariler, is your best option at this point (and actually is the problem at least 90% of the time, in my experience.)

Extremely frustrated.
Local repairer put in a new black cartridge - and it worked - for the first fifteen or so pages and then the dreaded message 'b ink out'and the blinking red light.
Have tried a new printhead - just the same.
HP qoted a price for an engineer's visit - £267. Ye gods !!
Have trawled hp.com - no joy.
Can anyone help?

Yes - idea:

1. has about 3000 user groups throughtout the US & world wide.
2. send your problem to the webmaster at the larger groups - Houston, Texas has a huge user group. Also, Sun City, AZ.

3. Keep me informed, will try other info.
4. Have you called HP in the UK?

you may have a good amount of ink lock up in the lines fromt the ink cartage to the print head you should have the printer lines replaced or flushed

I currently have the same problem. It looks like the plungers at the base of the cartridges. (inside the well).
at the same problem was addressed and looks to be the answer. (Replacement/repair needed). If you take all the cartridges out and look inside, you'll notice some small white plungers sticking up. The only one sticking up on mine is the yellow, cyan actually looks pushed down and that is where my error message keeps coming from (cyan)
