When printing a large job(more than 50 pages) the printer will not print the last 3 pages. It prints a sheet with:
ERROR: syntax error
OFFENDING COMMAND: 7.50

We are using the PS driver on a HP 2430 printer.
These happens when using 2 differant programs.

These newer HP units are not big on memory, and some are dependant on a host based system. Smaller files, or bigger printer! This is especially so with PS. Try using the PCL driver instead.

The error shows a problem with the generation of large print jobs, i.e. the PostScript syntax.

If the PS driver was installed from the CD shipped with the printer then I would see if the PS driver available from the HP website is newer.

For example, looking at the drivers available for use with Windows XP ( I can see that the current 'Universal PS' driver for this model is v2.75.0.2 with a date of 6 Sep 2006, i.e. very recent.

As drivers are often updated after reported problems I would try updating the PS driver first if the version of the one you are using at the moment is earlier. Even if the version is the same, it is always worth re-installing the driver just in case the current one is corrupted.

If the problem persists then I would agree with Michael52x's suggestion to try using a PCL one instead. I'm afraid my experience of HP printers has led to a bias against PCL6 so I would go for the slightly slower (but, imho, usually more stable) PCL5e. However, this is your choice and there's nothing to stop you trying both.

Hope this helps...
