We have a HP2100 connected to our W2K network. Whenever you send a print job to it, the light next to the "Go" button on the printer will blink. Nothing from the job you send will come out until you push the button. And when you have a document over 1 page, it requires you to push the button for EVERY page of the document (ugh!). I checked HP's website (so helpful) and the closest thing I could find was this:

The printer may be in manual feed mode (Go light blinking).
Add paper to Tray 1 and press and release the GO button.

I have checked the printer settings on the server and on my workstation - they have Letter paper with Auto Select as the defaults. I have tried setting it to pickup from Tray1 and 2, nothing.

Please help, this is very annoying!!! I don't want to have to call the $80/hr service people...it has to be something simple.

Ah so it's not just us then ;)

We had this on a few of our HP2100's although we never actually fixed it, it went away. One thing I do know for sure though is that it is PC related not just Printer.

As machines were formatted/ replaced the issues stopped, we spent so long trying to solve the problem it became too time consuming and was intermittant.

What application are you printing from.

Dunno if this'll help you in your situation, but I had this exact situation crop up in a field office the other day. Site staff had staged a replacement pc and installed the printer drivers from the 98SE disk. They'd used the Laserjet 2000 series drivers and the printer behaved exactly as danno74 described it. I uninstalled it, downloaded the 2100 PCL6 driver ( and reinstalled. Worked perfectly...

We did try this method and the problem occasionally went away but came back again within a day or so. Still, here's hoping it works for you.

Uh-oh...maybe I'll be a call from that field office in the near future....
[rofl2]

It went away by itself. Only has happened the one time, so hopefully I'll be OK. Thanks for the help.
