HP1100 IDS failure 1

I have a HP1100 inkjet. When printing a configuration page,
under the black cartridge there is a message "IDS Failure"

also under printhead information:
"IDS Failure" under each printhead


What does this mean?

IDS is an Ink Delivery Failure. It can be caused by either a bad cartridge, or bad printhead. Since you verified that it's with the black, I'd suggest replacing both the ink cartridge and printhead.
