pretty frustrated with my HP-UX second encounter....

1. root account locked after issuing "pwconv"
2. after creating a user account using "useradd" CDE crash when start
3. tried to create a second user account. Again, can't login with account is locked message

My question is:
1. anyway to undo pwconv??
2. what is the proper way to create a user account??
3. how to unlock a user account??

I guess you went to a trusted system with your hp-ux. I think that a newly created account is locked by default in a trusted system. A superuser must unlock the account.
Answering your questions:
1. The only way to undo a pwconv is to recover /tcb from a backup :-(
2. you can create a user account using SAM (which is a recommended for trusted systems)
3. You can unlock a user account using SAM (also it is possible to edit files in /tcb directory, but not recommended)

good luck,
mewa

Actually, I found out:

/usr/lbin/tsconvert -r

can undo pwconv.

I had to boot from the install CD to undo the change, since the root account was also locked.
