Hi,

New to Unix here, we are trying to set up a cluster with 3 active/passive nodes. Is it possible for each of the three clusters to use the same passive node so we would need just 4 servers? If so, can you point me to some documentation that we can follow?
Thanks,
DtbCollumb

What cluster solution are you using?

Yes, it should be possible, although what you would end up with is one cluster with 4 nodes. The services in that cluster would be set up specifying which node(s) they could run on and which node was their "primary" node.

Normally you would configure services so that they don't care which nodes they are running on to give you maximum flexibility for rolling upgrades and so-on. You can usually configure them in such a way that they automatically prevent or reduce the likelihood of more than one service running on a single node, if performance is potentially a problem.
