HP-UX 10.20 can't resolve network names

Hi everyone,

I got this HP-UX workstation that will not resolve internal network machines when I use the ping command.

ping servername.com

These are the files that I've worked on.
hosts
resolve.conf
defaultrouter
nsswitch.conf
I've added a defualt gateway to the router

I can ping using an IP address.

Any suggestions.

Are you using any kind of DNS? Sounds like your not. In the hosts file are your servers reffered to as servername.com or just servername? If it's just the servername you can put an alias in the hosts if you wish...

194.130.5.28 SERVER SERVER.co.uk SERVER.com

And all three aliases will refer to the same IP.

It is unlikely you will need to alter the other three files.

Sorry if I seem like I'm teaching you to suck eggs but I don't know how much you know about this.
