I have a LaserJet 2550L Color laser printer on a JetDirect box. It works great.

Recently, Vista updated to SP2, and hosed my print spooler. I fixed that.

I *was* using a Windows 2000 driver for the LJ2550, because it printed fine in color. I also figured that it was the cause for my spooler failure in Vista, so I downloaded the HP UPD to drive both the 2550 and the 2200DN that I have.

Both print... but no color on the 2550. Not even on the test page. Is there a setting that I am missing somewhere to "enable color" on the UPD for the 2550?

I've poked through the settings, but I'm not seeing anything that says "Color capable" or "print in color" or "don't print in color" or anything of the sort.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Never mind. Vista has its own PostScript drivers that work just fine and dandy.

So much for a "Universal Print Driver". lol

For future reference:

In the UPD driver properties tab Device Settings, there's a heading called Installable Options -> Device Type.
Change it from Auto Detect to Color and your printer will print in color ;)

Did that... unfortunately, under the "General" tab, it still said "Color: No" after I did that.

'Sall right, though.... the native driver seems to be OK so far... we'll see how it fares when I start up CorelDraw though.
