I just bought a HP Ultrium 230e Tape Drive as my DAT 24 was way to small.
I can't get Netware to see the drive. SCSI Bios sees the drive fine on boot.
I'm trying to get the drive to eventually work with ArcServe 7.
Here are some specfics:

Netware 6 SP2
ARCServe 7, with latest patches.
SCSI Card - AHA 2940U2W
AIC78U2 dated 3/25 (tried the one from NW6SP3 as well)
CANWPA dated 8/7/02 (tried NWASPI as well)

I can get a DLT drive that is Daisy-Chained off the LTO to work fine but can't see the LTO at all in Netware.
Tried Scan for New Devices and the HP Tapes Tools.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Jen

Hi,

Load SCSISCAN at the console and see if this utility sees the drive. If scsiscan sees it, it's an Arcserve issue, if not it's an OS/driver issue.

I believe scsiscan can be found in the Arcserve\nlm dir.

I am not familiar with that particuloar drive. If It's a changer, scsciscan should be able to see both the drive and the changer.

If you type "List Devices" at the server console, do you see a unknown device? If so, it's your tape drive.

No luck still!

I do NOT see the drive when I type List Devices.

I forgot to also add that I see and use this tape drive from a different W2K machine.
Don't have another easily accesible Netware server to try it on, but that might be my next step.
