HP Surestore DLT40 Green light always on

Anythign i can with this drive? Was working, but now when I load a tape, it flahses some of the IN USE lights, etc, then after a minute or so, the green "Operate Handle" light comes back on so the drive will not stay loaded, as a result, will not backup

Ideas? Or get a new drive.

ALso looking for reasonabel replacement for this drive that works with Veritas Backup if and when these are no longer available and would appreciate recommendations.

Flash the firmware on it with Library and tape tools. Sounds like the firmware may be outdated or corrupt...go to

http://www.hp.com/support/tapetools

and download the free utility...likely will fix the problem and you can additionally run some tests on it....hate to see you throw it out before we can confirm its finished or not.
