Hi,
I have connected a SSL1016 autoloader on a ML570 Win2K SP3 on the SCSI port2 on the server.
And when I go to Veritas (8.6) I'm only able to see the drive as standalone. But the library or autoloader is not showing under Devices in Veritas. I have loaded the library option for Veritas.
Any help is appreciated.

You installed the Library Expansion Option, when it asked about drivers did you load the Veritas drivers for the Robotic arm and the drives. Lastly, did you reboot the backup server?

I found you have to reboot the backup server after changes are made to the tape device/library.

Ver,
I've recently got mine working properly, let me know if you're still having problems and I can follow up. Toby.

Hi tobyo, can you please give me some instructions how you made you work your HP SSL1016 library to work?
Thanks. JP.

Sure - my first question would be about LUN support. The Autoloader requires a SCSI adapter with multiple LUN support as the DLT drive has a LUN of 0 and the Loader controller is LUN 1.
SO take a look at the adapter BIOS settings and see if multiple LUN support is available and if it is enabled for the specific SCSI ID that the SSL1016 is set to.
This was the first thing to catch me out setting up my loaders on a DL380 - I'm presently using a 2940UW SCSI card as a workaround. I don't know whether the adapter in the ML570 will support multiple LUNs though - let me know how you get on. Toby.

I have setup a DELL PC with a 2940UW SCSI card. I have loaded Windows 2K Server, Veritas 9.0 (Evaluation Edition).
The SCSI card is enabled for Multi LUN Support. SDLT drive is on Port2, Bus0, TargetID5, LUN0. SSL1016 is on Port2, Bus0, TargetID5, LUN1.
I am able now to see the autoloader as a Robotic Library. I can perform inventory, erase, catalog and restore operations. But, when I perform a backup task, the job ends with an I/O error Storage device "Compaq 1" reported an error on a request to write data to media.
Error reported:
The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.
I have loaded brand new tapes, cleaned several times.
I have updated the SDLT and SCSI drivers to the manufacturer most recent.
I don't know what could be the problem at this point.
Thanks,
JP.
