Hi All

We Have /opt/hpnpl/ installed on sol8. I have previously used jetadmin, but never seen this before. pls can domeone give me a quick run over, such as to add a printer.

Is there a menu i can invoke ?

Regards Sy

/opt/hpnpl/bin/jetadmin
should be there ... which hopefully will look like the jetadmin you're used to.

HI jad, thanks for reply!

I have done a search for jetadmin, with no results.

below is contents of bin dir. does this look farmiliar?

addqueue hpnpadmin ishpnp multiremovequeue
bootpd hpnpf modifyqueue removequeue
bootpquery hpnps mpage rptrcfg
fsize hpnptyd multiaddqueue transferqueue

Regards

S

are you on an intel solaris or sparc solaris box?

I have the hpnp for intel ...

fsize hpnpadmin1 hpnpdr hpnps ip2long jetadmin lshpnp psbsm xjdm xjmore hpnpadmin hpnpd hpnpf hnpnptyd ishpnp jetprint psbr rfp xjjm

did have the sparc version somewhere around.

do you have the package:

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/networking/software/SOLd621.PKG
(about 6.5 Mb) or just the TAR file (530Kb) ?
you might alternitavely have downloaded the SUNd450.TAR (about 1.8Mb) but this is for SunOs 4.1 (Solaris 1)

you need the 2.6 package really to do all the talking and Admin, the TAR file is just the jetprint stuff.

the pkg seems to be for Solaris 2.6, but it should work ok for 8.

i've just been looking ... it may have put jetadmin in /usr/bin (which is a link to /opt/hpnpl/admin/jetadmin)

...

is that the same as yours?

Jon

Sorry Cant find it there either. jetadmin is not on the box as i did an entire search of the entire filesystem for jetadmin which returned no results.

i have tried using addqueue in /opt/hpnpl/bin. BUt this seems tiresome compared to the menu driven jetadmin.

usages: addqueue [-c class] [-d] [-i printerID]
-q queuename -h hostname [-p port] [-s]
[-r on/off] [-t on/off] [-b on/off] [-L PS/PCL/HPGL/HPGL2/AUTO]
[-P 1/2/3] [-T 1/2/3] [-m banner papersize] [-D on/off]
addqueue -l

Do you know what version you are running or where i can obtain one similar to yours, as jetadmin is now obsolete and HP have introduced Web Jetadmin which i would prefer not to use.

regards

s

it's funny the newer version doesn't seem to have jetadmin, but the older version does ...

might be worth getting the older version?

look in the /shmiminaway/whoouuay file under your $BANANA_TOP .. you should find some info there...

/opt/hpnpl/hppi = menu-driven interface

/opt/hpnpl/bin/addqueue -q (queue) -h (hosts entry) = the minimum to add a printer

Thanks Discovered it earlier reading through INSTALL.UNX

Working okay now
