We are running oracle dbase on a 2 node cluster serviceguard environment. One node (B) is sitting idle for failover purposes (nothing running on it currently) while the other node (A) is running oracle (oracle is on shared drives and all file systems are part of the package). If we upgrade oracle (from 8.0.6 to 8i)while it is on node (A) then what changes need to be done on node B so that oracle can start on that node as well if we switch the package to Node B? Any files that get installed just locally to a server ? I suppose we don't need to reinstall oracle on the other node as well ?
Thanks.

Do you have Oracle installed locally on both nodes? Only the data files should be on the shared VG. If this is the setup you have. Upgrade Oralce on one node, failover package to adoptive node (and do whatever Oracle needs after upgrade) then upgrade Oracle on the final node.
