HP PSC 950 All in 1 & Win 98; prints only 1 page

I keep getting "There was an error writting to DOT4_001 for the printer (HP psc 900 series). There was a problem sending your document to the printer. Make sure the printer cable is connected & the the printer is online." on any docs that are more then one page. The first page prints fine then stops and produces the above messege and sends the printer offline.
I have uninstalled and re-installed the latest drivers from the HP website and switched out the USB cable for a new one. Anyone??? thanx
