HP PSC 2110 power question

I just got a HP psc 2110. The reference guide says there is a "power save" feature where you can adjust the time before the bulb is turned off. Does this sleep mode type feature also affect the ink cartridges?

To best preserve the ink in my cartridge, should I leave the printer on or turn it off whenever I'm not using it?

I also have a HP PCS2210 and can not get it to work on a DELL XPS T600R running Windows 98SE. Any help out there
