Hello,

I want to install Small Business Server 2011 on a HP Proliant Server DL380 G4.
When I boot with Smartstart cd (8.50 / 8.70), the GUI doesn't start. I get a unix prompt instead.
What must I do to get the GUI?

Thanks in advance,

Edwin

I wouldn't try using a SmartStart 8.70, since 8.50 is what they call for on the HP site. Also, be sure you have a good download (check MD5) and a good CD burn. Try a different CD-ROM drive. On the newer servers, I have seen this happen with the Service Pack for ProLiant DVDs. Converting them to bootable flash drives fixes that. I would not try that on a G4 though, since I don't think it has USB 2.0 support.

Hi Akloster2,

Thanks for your support. I managed to fix the problem by using version 8.30, install Windows Server 2008 R2 and then run the setup from SBS 2011. Not the best way to do it, but works for me. [thumbsup2]

Rgds, Edwin
