I am currently using a HP ProCurve Switch 4000M with about 45 workstations connected to it on a nt network. Every few days or so the network performance drops to a very very slow pace. Once i power down and "reboot" the switch my network speed dramatically improves. Does anyone have any ideas or solutions so i would not have to shut down the switch to re-instate network performance

The fact that rebooting the switch makes the performance problem go away does not prove that the switch is the culprit. For example, let's say that the root cause is the your network design is over-subscribed. Rebooting the switch will cause client-server connections to drop, reducing the overall amount of traffic and thereby making the problem go away (for awhile).

As far as troubleshooting the switch:

1. Check the Status and Counters screen for Error and Drops.

2. Check the event log for Warnings.

3. Refer to the Technical Note on this topic at:
Good luck,
Ralph
