HP ProCurve and PVST

Hi,

is there any way to let a ProCurve switch work with some Cisco switches using PVST for spanning tree? Anyone experience with this?

By the way: Could anyone explain me the meaning if that IST instance on ProCurve switches? And whats the difference between CST and CIST?

Hello.

If you are running MSTP on the Procurves then you should be able to work with Cisco PVST, I have had this working not problems.

As with IST and CIST and CST think of 3 circles inside each other, IST is the inner circle it controls the local spanning instance of say MSTP, CIST controls how multiple MSTP regions see each other and CST controls how MSTP, RSTP, PVST and STP see each other if you have many switches and networks connected together all running different types of Spanning tree.
