Does this procurve 4104gl switch have wirespeed routing capablities for VLans like a Cisco Cata 3550 does?

I highly doubt it. The 4100 only has wirespeed switching between network ports on the same module, but I think that's only on the same VLAN. There's no wirespeed switching through the backplane when you go between modules. I'd put this question to presales w/HP.

Static routes only. and not wire speed.

It is a damned good closet switch, but do not try to use routing other than at the access layer.
