My HP Laser printer gL-5 worked fine. now I bought a Zip drive250 MB,Parallel Port which works fine, but now my Laser printer is on the by-pass of the Zip drive and my printer doesn't work anymore, unless I disconnect the Zip drive. Is there any way to rectifiy this problem, short of installing a second Parallel port? I don't have a USB on my computer, which is 5 years old (AST).

Easiest way to cure the problem is to install a second parallel port. some devices jist can`t live together. They are cheap enough and will eliminate the hassle you are experiencing.

You might try deinstalling the printer drivers and zip drivers. Then reinstalling, with zip first. No guarantees , but sometimes it will pick up correctly.
