We have some PC here and they keep getting a spoolsv.exe error when you try to print. You have to go back in and manually start the spooler after that but again you try and print and you get this error. If you print to another printer it works fine. The printer that it does not like is a HP Laser Jet 5000, we are running windows 2000

I made a number of comments about spool errors in
thread615-569123 different printer and operating system, but some of them may be things you can try.

For a temporary fix, until you can get something else worked out, you may be able to make it work by printing direct instead of spooling.

Starting point for you might be eliminating spool related items from virus scan and reviewing microsoft article.

HP regularly updates the firmware of their JetDirect cards due to updates in Windows.
Do a check on the JetDirect card if there`s any update available for it and perhaps try and use WebJetAdmin to check and update if needed. It`s quite a nifty tool and also gives you a complete overview of all your HP printers in the network and even some non HP printers.

You can also check that you are using the HP TCP/IP Port that communicates with the printer.
[bold]always[/bold] use that if you have an HP Networkprinter.

Kind regards Pysj`n
