The printer works just fine. All of the mechanical functions are fine. However when I try to scan, the preview of the scan shows a rainbow color page. This appears even when there is nothing on the flatbed or glass. As a result if I print I get a rainbow color page or if I try to make a copy I get a totally black page. I have done resets and system factory defaults with no luck. I can't seem to rid this image. Can you help?

That sounds like what a digital camera does when the image sensor is kaput.
