To use your Photosmart 1000 on Windows Vista, substitute the HP970cse Vista driver. This driver does not support all features contained in the XP version, but it prints text and pictures OK.
Ignore and close any prompts or warnings referring to PhotoSmart 1000... (there may be several)
1. Delete any Photosmart 1000 enties from 'Printers Folder'
and from 'Device Manager'.
2. Connect Photosmart 1000 via usb to PC. Power up Photosmart printer.
3. Go to 'Printers Folder', click on 'Add Printer' tab.
4. Select 'Add Local Printer'
5. Select 'Use an Existing Port' radio button.
6. Scroll down box to 'USB001 Virtual printer port for USB' and click 'Next'.
7. Select HP DeskJet 970cse and click 'NEXT'
8. 970cse drivers start installing, when completed, your done.
