I have been trying to find out an issue I have been having with an AVTECH 11E Room Alert device.

I seem to have narrowed the issue down to the MIB and the way it defines the OID's. Now on another Unit the 24E I do not have the same problem so that mib seems to be written correctly. What I am looking for is if anyone could see any possible issues with the MIB for the 11e.

The specific problem has to do with browsing the mib for the 11e - which also affects being able to set thresholds for the specific device.

When browsing the mib if I browse down to the ..products.roomalert11e.sensors.channel(x).channel(x)-(x) it will return no value. Now if I SNMP walk the mib it will show values for that mib instance. Also if I browse up one level to the .products.roomalert11e.channel(x) and query it will show values for each instance of the channel(x)-(x).

This is where I am stuck - without the ability to view the mib from the integer level I am unable to set thresholds for the device.

The other mib for the 24e - which in essence is the same device except with more ports works just fine when browsing down to the lowest level of the mib.

Any suggestions to what may be wrong would be great as I am out of ideas and the tech with AVTECH seems to think everything is working properly and that Openview is the one with the issue.

Thanks in advance

As an update to this -

I have done some more research on the MIB - It seems to be related specifically to the SNMPwalk command vs the snmpget command.

snmpwalk -v 1 -c xxxxx 192.168.1.3 .1.3.6.1.4.1.20916.1.3.1.2.2

returns #No MIB ojects contained under subtree

where as

snmpget -v 1 -c xxxxx 192.168.1.3 .1.3.6.1.4.1.20916.1.3.1.2.2

returns #avtech.products.roomalert11e.sensors.channel2.sensors2-2 : INTERGER 7400

So what is the difference here - the get command can pull the values yet the walk command is not seeing anything. Is this mib related? Whats the difference between the GET and WALK command.

Any help would be great.
