I purchased an HP OfficeJet R40xi in 2000. It had been working fine under Windows 98 both in color printing and scanning, until I bought a new PC this year, which uses Windows XP as OS.
The CD that came with the printer is Windows 98 only. So I had to go to HP's website to look for a driver for XP. I was very disappointed they did not provide any driver for downloading, just a document explaining that we could use the XP built-in driver.
I installed the built-in driver as instructed. However, with the new driver my printer is not functioning as it used to be. It now does not print all the colors it used to (for example, it does not print yellow at all, it prints green the same as it prints blue, and it prints orange the same as it prints pink...etc.) And it does not scan at all!
Tried to email them. Got some long standard documentation that didn't help. Tried to call them. Was kept on line and kicked back and forth between different people for more than one and a half hours.... HELP!!!
