HP Officejet and HP scanjet

I have an HP Officejet500 now going thru an HP scanjet5100c. I run NT4.0 My scanjet works but printer does not. Printer works if scanner is off. Reloaded drivers, tried the HP 660 driver(hp suggestion) Still can not get the printer to work. Please help!

if you have not found out already they don't like to share the quick and most realdable fix is just to get a second port. So long and thanks for all the fish.

usually the printer has to have a bidirectional cable,but the scanner doesnt. the printer probably communicates fine all the way up untill it hits the scanner cable. If you havent tried it yet, try putting a bidirectional cable on the scanner too and see how that works.
