HP NX 7010 and external monitor 16:9 vs 4:3

Hi
I have an HP NX7010 and an external flatscreen monitor.
How can I get the format right on the external monitor without changing the resolution settings?

It works fine on a Dell laptop - when I connect and switch over to the external monitor, it just pops over to 4:3 format.
But on the HP it stays 16:9 which is bad on the external monitor.
I don´t want the users to tamper with settings.
(Plenty of bad experience from that.)
