What happend was I started updating the BIOS after I reloaded the laptop. During the update an error popped up and laptop shutdown. Now when I turn it on the laptop won't post. It does power up and caps lock light flashes and mute button stays lite but that is it. Ii have removed the cmos battery for a day and tried removing all power but no luck. Any help would be great.

it is VERY possible that the laptop is bricked, and that only HP will be able to do something about the issue (which depending on the warranty, would incur fees to be paid)...

the other possibility, that pops to mind, would be to purchase the same type unit from eBay, one that is cheap enough, and get it's BIOS chip and replace the one in your laptop...

other than that, I see no way to recover from that issue... unless the laptop has a BIOS recovery mode, read the manual as to that...

How to ask a question, when posting them to a professional forum.
Only ask questions with yes/no answers if you want "yes" or "no"

It might be worth (depending on where you live) to find a company local or online (many laptop repair specialist) will replace the BIOS for you at a fraction of the cost of a new laptop (in your case a mobile workstation.)

and not to mention losing all your personal data, OS, nice hardware etc. (although you can take the HDD out and drop it into a HDD caddy to recover data)

first try this:

take out battery and power.

Press and Hold the power button (30 secs should do)

replace battery and power.

press power and see if posts.

the above actually resets the mobo / bios

That procedure normally ONLY works for a laptop that won't power on when you press the power button vs. a messed up BIOS, but give it a shot. It's free to try things.

See how much the laptop is worth on Ebay before you get excited about repairing it. Looks like a decent machine though.

This is what I thought and did. As for data nothing to loose it was a clean reload. I guess it is a parts machine now.

A new one meaning a new machine or the used price of this machine??

Take a look at part cost (mobo replacmeent or bios chip replacement via sending to HP) before making a decision.
