Hi All

We're a Mitel Voip reseller and have recently installed a Mitel Network of voice on HP switches. The customer has set up the HP's using the Meshing and there for 5 switches just for Voip in the network. The issue they have is that after a period of inactivity, the calls loose the first few seconds of speach when answering calls. It's almost as if the path is taking is time being set up for the RTP.

But you can ring the phone 100 times straight after and not get this issue. But come back after a couple of hours of no activity and the same will happen.

The also appear to have had issues where they need to reboot the switches to allow the phones to renew their DHCP?

Any ideas? Anyone in the UK who can provide telephone support and maybe even a paid trip to the Channel Islands to resolve the issue?

How busy is your network, have you checked your CPU-state for example. It looks af if the network is to busy. I had a similar problem where 2 switches where bombarding the network with a trunking protocol, and the switches were 99% busy.

about your DHCP problem, is it with 5330 phones? they seem to have an issue with that.

Hi Sankop

Haven;t checked the CPU usage, but we have changed the MAC Address delete from 5sec to 30 and seems to have cured the delay issue.

As for the dhcp, funnily enough it is 5330's??

Check LLDP on the Switch, try to turn it OFF.

Why would you turn LLDP off, we use it for Mitel IP-phones to get into the right VOICE-VLAN.

I think there is a bug in the Mitel, were having the same problems with another customer.
Try the old DHCP options 67 ect....
Or set one by hand.

Also check if there are routing problems, try to do a tracert. Looks like it might missing some hops.
