I hav a network of w2k advanced server and several w2k prof clients. All computes in network use static ipaddress. I hav 1 HP LaserJet 4Plus printer, it has built in network card. I connected the cat5 cable to this printer and to hub. In w2k adv server i downloaded HP NETWORK PRITNER SETUP software. While installing , it will try to detect the printer but all i got was an error message saying that printer is not switched on, it doesnt detects at all neither it will giv ip address.

Why not just install a PCL point and print driver on the server and set the port temporary to LPT1, and then afterwards configure the TCP/IP settings on the display of the printer before adding a TCP/IP port in the driver ?
