I have two LaserJets a 4100 and 4200 and I am wondering if the NIC's are swapable. I beleive they are a 610N and a 615N respectivly. If anyone can answer this I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Yes, these are interchangable. Both of these cards are EIO, and will work in either printer. What kind of problem are you suspecting that you have with the nic card? Is it the 615 that you suspect has the issue? The reason I ask is that HP has found a known issue with some of their 615 network cards. If you have the problem that they have realized exists, and your serial number is within range, they will replace the 615 with the newer 620N.

It's not a matter of a malfunction, we are moving to a new building and have decided to do away with all of the 4100 series printers. Our manager believes that the networking information is actually stored on the NIC and therfore if we remove them and transfer them to the 4200's we will be all set. I'm not sure if this is accurate as my experience with LaserJet printers is limited. Hope he's right!

He is correct. The Network Settings, IP Addresses, Novell, etc... are in fact stored on the JetDirect cards.
