HP LJ4000 Pulling 2 pages

I have a problem with a LJ4000 printer, when a user prints out using the new paper it pulls 2 pages through instead of one, is this due to the thickness of the new paper, and if so how can this be dealt with.

From which tray? I have a user with this problem but only from the manual feed tray (they are using two different types of paper).
Have had to set up a work around that they aren't too pleased about so any help would be good.

Yes its from the manual feed tray, and it is two different types of paper, what is your work round as at the moment i dont have one

Have you tried cleaning BOTH parts of the paper feed/pick up mechanism??

There are two parts; the d-pickup roller and the separation pad. The separation pad is a little felt-feeling pad that sits under the d-pickup roller.

Other things you can try:

1) Fan the paper first; static on the paper if you are in a dry office can cause this. Try a humidifier in the same room as the printer if it is dry.

2) Turn the paper over. I know it sounds silly, but it can make a difference.

3) Try different paper. If it does not have a clean cut, and edges are sticking together, it will pull multiple pages. Step 1 should eliminate this, however, if you fan it well first.

Could you be on the verge of needing to get a roller replacement kit? Those rollers are rubber and do wear slowly over time.
