We've just upgraded our network print server for NT4 to 2000 Server. After doing this, we encountered a problem with an HP LJ 8100 printer. Before the server upgrade, it was printing fine, but since the upgrade, the speed of the printer has reduced dramatically. This printer is used quite a lot so I hope some one can help solve the problem.
The printer was installed on the new print server with the latest HP Post Script drivers, this is when we noticed the problem. I then tryed the PCL 6 drivers, this appeared to solve the problem but we then discovered that it would not let us print in landscape form from any application. I then installed the PCL 5 drivers and had the same problem not being able to print landscape.
The problem is affecting any one who prints to this LJ 8100 printer and we don't have any other problems with the other HP printers that we use.

I would check the NIC settings on both the server and the printer. Typically, if you are using 10/100 cards, they should be set to the same on each device, either 10mbs full duplex, or 100mbps full duplex. DO NOT leave nics set to "automatic" as this cause issues such as above. check that out first...
