I have this printer (HP LJ 4000 N) that has a grindding noise, located fault in the general area of the gear shaft with tranfer belt. Can anyone steer me in the right direction?

How old is printer? What part of printer are you talking about? (input, middle , output)

The printer is 2 years old and it's in the middle, when I open the right side panel and turn the motor manually I get this clicking sound, when I turn on the printer I get this gridding noise.

First thing to try is a different toner cartridge. Then check the drive assembly for obstruction or a broken gear.
And finally if you are able, remove the fuser assembly and inspect it.
