I have a user with Windows 2000 machine. She has followed the directions properly and tried to install the printer using the cd. She has gotten the following errors when trying to install the printer: Cannot continue dur to lack of resources. The printer subsystem is not responding: please restart. Not properly connected to your computer. Unable to download firmware. Printer rundll command failed. Command/k/n/"hjlj1000". This device is not ready. During the actual install, we would get to the point where we would plug in the USB cable but the "next" button would remain shaded and the printer would never be detected by Windows. Additionally, after trying to setup the printer, her computer now restarts and says that it found a new PCI serial port even though no other new hardware was found. I tried having her uninstall the printer software again and start from the beginning with no luck. Anyone able to help? Thanks.

First check if the USB ports are properly installed and not causing any conflicts with other devices like the serial ports and any other additional devices installed. (Check the resources settings in Device Manager) Maybe also make a check in BIOS to see if the USB ports are enabled at all. They might shown up on the list in Device Manager though they are not even enabled in BIOS !
