When the printer is turned on it does not get past the message "warming up." It will print a self-test page and after a cold reset the Ready light does come on, but it will not accept any print jobs. Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer some insight.
I think mine (II) was doing that. At least the Ready light did not come on. I ignored it and sent output to it anyway. That would always take care of the problem. It would print what was sent, and start behaving normally.
RE: kiddpete - Thanks for the reply. Unlike your situation, this printer will not print anything. I have changed the cable, attached it to another computer, tried a new printer port - no luck. I feel I have a bad part in the printer - hoping somone can confirm which part and how difficult replacement would be.
Warm up failures would point me to the fuser and heat element.
In a fairly dark room you should be able to see a light from inside the case above the paper feed as the machine is coming up to heat. If it is a bulb I've found them as low as $15 and the replacement is pretty straightforward.
What you are describing could also be the main board.
