Hi,

We are a publishing house and have a HP LaserJet 8000 N printer. There are Macs and PCs that print to this.
We print large files to it including Quark documents.

It takes forever to process a print job and with 48mb of memory in it, I decided to upgrade it by installing 3 x 32mb RAM in it so with the fixed 8mb now has 104mb. Yet it still takes an absolute age to print !!
Can anyone suggest a way to increase the processing speed of this printer ? Perhaps there is a setting on the printer that is not setup correctly ?

Many thanks for your help !!

Are you printing postscript? Sounds like a lot of preprocessing taking place. How many versions of the 8000
driver do you have?

how many versions of the postscript driver ? Not sure what you mean.
We have several Mac users printing to it through the LaserWriter 8 driver and 8000 ppd and some Windows 2K users printing to it via a print queue on a Win2K server. These Windows users are also using a PS driver.

Does this help to answer your question at all ?

Sometimes HP has different versions of the same driver for different print formats(ps etc) I would suggest you check out HP's web site.
I ASSUME you have verified the printer config by printing
the config sheets??????
