hello all, just a quick question, on my HP LaserJet 4V i sometimes get the message "PC LOAD LEGAL".

Does anybody know what this is and how to fix it, it's happening more and more lately, and it's driving me mad!!!

thanks people

just been to the hp website, they advised pressing shift and continue together, which starts the self test, i've used this in the past and know it works for a short spell, but can anybody tell me why this is happening or how to avoid it in future.

thanks again

Try and check up in the driver or on the printer if the papersize is set to legal and not A4 fx. A wrong papersize will make the printer display this message as well.

thanks wizzard, i've just changed it from a4 to legal i'll let you know if this solves the problem but just in case i forget i'll give you a star.
If it's not broke, don't fix it!

PC LOAD LEGAL popped up again, what was it you were saying about the driver, what is it that i should be looking for?

If it's not broke, don't fix it!

Check in the driver what papersource and size is selected. If it is selected to a non existing papertype and size it will pop up with the message. Also on a config pagefrom the printer it will read what papertype and size the printer is set up to.
